Count Your Blessings!
Many of you have certainly heard of the tragic accident a couple of weeks ago involving the McMahan family. The father, Jim (aka Jimmy Mac), was killed and his daughter, Nan (NAN STRONG!) was badly injured and lost most of her right leg. Suzie Mac, the wife and mother, is like a sister to Tscharner and me. Jimmy Mac was a best friend to our husbands. We raised our children together. The last 15 years or so that we have been together have been the happiest days of our lives. As Jimmy Mac said, “Friends are the family you pick up on the road of life”. We were tight…really tight. Family. We still are.
Suzie is now faced with being the sole provider to the 2 girls. Maddie, the big sister and Nan’s biggest supporter, is about to leave for her sophomore year at the University of Tennessee with the weight of the family situation on her shoulders. Nan has a long road ahead of her, but she is brave and strong. We all know she will rock her prosthetic leg and will be walking the campus of UGA next fall!
In Jimmy Mac’s honor and in the hopes of helping his family move past this tragedy, Queenie’s is asking our customers and consignors to help in any way they can. One of our consignors most graciously offered the balance in her consignor account to be given to the McMahans. What a great idea! So, here are the ways you can help…
1. Pray for the family that they can find peace and comfort in their loss. Pray for Nan’s recovery, Maddie’s success at UT and Suzie’s strength to be the best mother and sole supporter of a family of three.
2. Donate the balance in your consignor account to the McMahan family fund. Queenie’s will cut Suzie a check of the total amount. Give us a call or send us an e-mail and we can handle the logistics.
3. Donate by check or cash directly to the McMahan family fund that we will collect here at Queenie’s. Checks should be made payable to Susan McMahan. We can also provide you with the Wells Fargo account info if you would like to donate directly.
4. There is a Go Fund Me page that you can use. Here is the link: https://www.gofundme.com/f/nancy-and-her-familys-recovery
Life is short, ya’ll. You never know when your number is up. Here’s to appreciating what we have and knowing that it is enough. Tell your friends and family that you love them…and count your blessings!
